Send a Letter

Letters will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the lifetime of the artwork. The main deadline was the 20th May and all letters received in the post before the exhibition preview at Globe Gallery on the 31st May are certain to be included in the work.

If you would like to contribute a letter and are unable to make it to any of the exhibitions and events below, please send it using the details on our contact page and we’ll do our best to include it in the artwork as soon as we can.

Tweeting a letter to @_dearangel any point in June will result in your tweet being physically manifested in the Globe Gallery space by Tom Schofield’s piece Optimism Skywards.

After the 31st May you can contribute a letter in the following ways:

1st June – 30th June
By visiting the artwork at Globe Gallery, Newcastle during the month of June.

16th June
At Angel 15, the Angel of the North’s birthday party, Susannah Pickering will be leading a participatory letter writing workshop.

22nd – 23rd June
At 36 Lime Street gallery as part of Creative Ouseburn.

29th – 30th June
Marek Gabrysch and Susannah Pickering will be collecting letters on Holy Island as part of the Finale weekend of Festival of the North East and the launch of the Lindisfarne Gospels Festival Programme.

July – September
Dear Angel will be exhibited in Durham and open to contributions throughout the Lindisfarne Gospels Programme.
